Quality

A 360-degree production process is crucial to guarantee high quality standards.

Studioart follows both the tanning and finishing process in its own tannery. Every hide is preserved, tanned and finished on our premises. This approach is key in providing high standards of quality, lead-time and service.

1. Raw materials

All leathers are European and certified. They are biproduct of the food industry.

1° Quality control

2. Chemical operations

This takes place in wooden drums. Leathers are hydrated, dehaired and cleaned.

3. Mechanical operations

Leathers are trimmed. Certified scraps (CE) are used to produce fertilisers and animal gelatines.

4. Splitting

The hide is divided into grain and suede.
5. Tanning phase

This phase is made in drums and it blocks the leather organic decomposition.

6. Pressing

Water in excess is removed thanks to the use of a roller machine.

Layers of leathers are removed to obtain the right thickness

8. Retanning, Dyeing and farliquoring operations

This phase requires 24h and it is carried out in drums. The hides are dyed-through and they get the required structure, grain and softness.

9. Drying

The drying varies according to the desired softness or stiffness.

10. Finishing phase

The hides are superficially treated to modify their shininess, smoothness, resistance to dirt and scratches. These treatments differ according to the desired result.

11. Chemical and physical analysis

Every hide is tested in the internal laboratory, all results are filed.
Final quality control

12. Measuring

Each hide is identified with size and batch number.

13. Packaging and delivery

Hides are rolled and packed to be shipped worldwide.
